Rhode Island Blood Center "Pint for Pint" promotion
8/14/2020 (Permalink)
According to https://www.ribc.org/news/articles/pint/, the summertime is the time where blood centers struggle to have a steady supply of donations.
That's why the RI Blood Center is teaming up with 4 local breweries for the month of August to encourage Rhode Islanders to donate more blood!
Did you know, that a typical blood donation is 1 pint, which can then save up to 3 lives!!
According to Kara LeBlanc, manager of marketing communications at the RI Blood Center, summer is such a difficult time to get donors because of the wonderful beach days we have, vacations (maybe less in 2020), camping etc.
While you still can have fun during the summer, it's still a great idea to donate blood!
Our social media manager here at SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island says her dad donates every time he can! (Which is every 8 weeks)...that's a lot of lives helped.
When you donate blood it is used to
- Help women and children if there are complications during childbirth
- Those undergoing chemo or other cancer treatments
- People who have suffered severe injuries
- People who suffer from kidney, heart, and sickle cell diseases.
- Those who need organ transplants
- Those who need blood transfusions, like Kevin!!
When you donate at RIBC, you are part of providing over 200 units of blood every day!!
You can donate more than just blood, too!
- Red blood cells
- Platelets
- Marrow
