Congratulations Dustin Johnson!

SERVPRO of Northern Rhode Island would like to extend our congratulations to the 2016 U.S. Open Champion, Dustin Johnson. Each member of our SERVPRO family watched anxiously as Johnson overcame a deficit to become the eventual winner by three strokes. A native of Columbia, South Carolina, this major championship marks his first major win in his career since turning professional in 2007.
The Controversy
On the 5th hole of the final round, as Johnson was lining up his putt, his golf ball seemed to rock back and forth, a movement subject to penalty if Johnson was the cause of it. For 7-holes, the United States Golf Association (USGA), did not count this as a penalty against Johnson. On the 12th hole, however, a rules official informed Johnson that he was subject to a video review once the round was over. Since this was a close final round in general, the implications regarding the one-stroke penalty could have been a detriment to his performance. Luckily, Johnson won by enough strokes that when the round was over, the one-stroke penalty did not rob him of his victory.
Well done, Dustin!
